The Thompson Boat Center offers a range of community and recreational programs for people of all ages. Our mission is to provide rowers with access to high level coaching and training, and to equip our participants with the tools they need to achieve the next level in their rowing careers.
2012 Sweep Programs
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, no exceptions.
Refund Policy for Programs: A full refund will be provided to anyone withdrawing from a program a full 24 hours in advance. A 75% refund will be provided to those who withdraw in the last 24 hours before the start of a program. All other requests for refunds will be done on a case by case basis at the discretion of management and will be prorated.

Women's programs are major gathering points for talented post-college rowers. The training regime is challenging, with the goal of preparing rowers to compete at the senior and elite levels. Spend quality time with one of our highly qualified instructors perfecting your skills.
Practice Times:
Spring: 5:45am-7:30am Tuesday – Friday; 6 – 7:30 PM Monday; other practices possible according to athlete schedules.
Summer: 5:45 – 7:30 Monday – Thursday, 6 – 7:45 PM Tuesday – Friday, 7 – 10 AM Saturday
Fall: 5:45am-7:30am Tuesday – Friday; 6 – 7:30 PM Monday; other practices possible according to athlete schedules.

COMMUNITY SWEEP - $300 per session |
Boat Center Community Sweep Program is the successor to our highly competitive masters program. We’ve chosen to focus this program on the physical and technical aspects of rowing with the possibility of participation of one or two regattas on the Potomac each year. The Community Program is open to anyone who has previous rowing experience and is over the age of 27. |
Practice Times: 5:45am -7:30am - on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

JUNIOR SWEEP - $400 per session |
The junior summer program is designed to aggressively build strength, fitness and technique in high school rowers. The goal of this training program is to enable its graduates to excel at their next rowing endeavor, whether it is Spring high school racing, or their collegiate freshman team. The program is divided into mens and womens squads. Coaches: TBD |

Summer Junior Men
June 4 - August 3
Coaches: Elliott Lane, additional coaches will be announced shortly.
Practice Times: 3:30pm-5:30pm Mon-Fri, 6:00am – 7:30am 3 mornings/week, 7am – 10am Saturday morning.
The junior men's summer program consists of an age 16-and-under team and an 18-and-under team. The ability of the rower determines which of the developmental levels they will be placed in. Our coaching staff is drawn from the best coaches in the area, and we believe that the instruction we provide is the finest possible preparation for future seasons at the high school or college freshman level.
Summer Junior Women
June 4 - August 3
Coaches: Kirk Shipley, Bridgid Meyers, additional coaches will be announced shortly.
Practice Times: 3:30pm-5:30pm Mon-Fri, 6:00am – 7:30am 3 mornings/week, 7am – 10am Saturday morning.

The junior developmental program is designed for rowers who have at least one prior season of rowing experience, but who are either not yet ready for the technical level of the Junior Men's or Women's programs, or who cannot make the time commitment required for those programs. The TBC Development Program is intended to give rowers a high level of technical instruction, along with fitness and strength training. Our coaching staff is drawn from the best coaches in the area, and we believe that the instruction we provide is the finest possible preparation for future seasons at the high school or college freshman level
Fall Junior Men
September 3 - November 2
Practice Times: 4:00pm-6:30pm Mon-Fri, Plus weekends as announced
The fall juniors program is designed for rowers with at least one season of racing experience. Our coaching staff is drawn from the best coaches in the area, and we believe that the instruction we provide is the finest possible preparation for future seasons at the high school or college freshman level.
